Before anyone says it can't be done, I'm talking about those few that I remember BeBlondie say can be done. The only one I remember was the bristlenose pleco. Can anyone, or beblondie, recall what were the other 2 maybe 3?

i have kept 2 albino common plecos with 4 sens with out any problems

stick with the bristlenose..... top fishes!!

CDM has an albino gibbiceps with his polypterus, so I'm going to try that. I recently sold my royal because he was pushing the bichirs around too much during feeding time.

Bristlenose-Ancistrus dolichopterus
Adonis pleco-Acanthicus adonis
Black adonis-Acanthicus hystrix

I don't recommend it especially if the plec is bigger than the bichir. In my case my 8" common plec was territorial of the caves and even suckered itself to my senegalus, damaging its scales.:(

ive got 15 polys with 9 and 7 inch common plecos.
never had a problem.
in fact the plecos often snuggle with the bichirs.

A. adonis and A. hystrix are both territorial carnivores, one gets just over 2 ft, the other gets over 3 foot.

Personally I think it doesn't make any difference on species. Obviously, the carnivorous plecs are less likely to work, but in reality, a Panaque, an Ancistrus (bristlenoses), even the rubberlips may or may not go for the slime of a bichir. The reason they don't normally go is because a bichir doesn't bother moving when a pleco clambers all over them, they develop a taste for them, and then it's too late. I wouldn't risk a bichir doing it, but I think it's going to be more down to pot luck than be species specific, as it definately isn't a species specific trait.
