I found a ad on craigslist of a fluval fx5 for 150 used missing the hose but was wondering if I should get it because There is a possibility it could only work for a couple days and break and I stuck with a 150$ broken toy what do you guys think?

I think it is always the gamble you take with second hand goods, and entirely up to you to decide....
Yeah used items are always a risk maybe get the correct hose and have the seller run it for you befor purchase if there is nothing wrong with it the seller should have any problem doing this for you
There's always a risk about buying second handed goods, either of both you come up with an excellent pick at a fairly good price or you get a piece of crap you wished you hadnt bought, lol I have coome across both, so if you want my advice invest another 200 bucks and get yourself a brand new FX5, you gonna pay more but you eliminate all risks of being dissapointed.
Sure it is really tempting to get an FX5 or 150 bucks....would it worth the risk?.

I agree with the above posts if he will let it go for 100 bucks I would take it. You can buy a new FX5 for 250.00.
I am not seeing many deals on them right now seems like the prices have gone up a bit on them. I got both of mine from value pet supplies via Ebay they were 252.00 with shipping.
Get some clear hosing that fits a fx5 and a tote with you fill up the tote and hook it up on the spot. Tell him if it works you'll take it lol. Idk what else to tell you I'd probably just pass on it if you're that unsure about it.
