2'?!! Wow!

Hey, how bad can they mess up acrylic tanks?

Oh, the tank mate is not gonna be turtles.lol probably arowana, tiger shovelnose, oscar, bichir..

A 2' gibby is something I would like to see. Though I'm sure they can grow that size I think between 12-18" is more likely.

Some info on the gibs.

I know plecostomus can be territorial but have never kept royals with gibs though I have kept both seperatly. IME royals can be a bit aggresive and gibs don't like to be pushed around. If you keep them together you will need a very large setup. Royals (Panaque nigrolineatus) can reach the same size as gibs.

Yeah, I would like to see any kind of 2' Pleco.. The biggest I've ever seen was probably a 1'+ Royal at a pet shop or some other kind at a Japanese Aquarium.

When Plecos get terretorial, how do they get all mad? I mean they're not gonna start sucking on other fish right?lol
I'll probably stick with just one then...and the one that doesn't need that much driftwood. Since I thought I read that they will actualy make the driftwood "disappear" in a few months..

i have heard that royals are agressive with other members of the same genus (panaque) but my royal and gibby get along fine. the bristlenoses are the most territorial of my plecos, and they usually show it by flaring their gill spikes and pushing each other around. the result is mostly just a few split fins.

There are plecos out there that get 2'+, I just never seen or heard of a royal of gibby reaching that size.
When plecos fight they erect their fins and sort of body slam eatchother.

I think headbutting is their favoured fighting style :nilly:
The attacking one will sorta sidle up to his intended victim and whack him in the side. They can do a bit of damage to each others fins and beat up a smaller fish pretty bad. If the tank is big and has lots of caves it's seldom a problem, the smaller one will just scoot out of the way. Once the big one cant see him any more it's not a problem.

I have 6" and 8" goldspots in my tank, they argue a bit, but dont harm each other. They both ignore the 3" common (maybe they dont think he's big enough to be a threat.) When I feed them I put food at each end of the tank so they can feed without having to look at each other ;)

Cheers

Ian
