I'd say female also.

Even at this size I can see the personality, I'm in love. I plan on keeping one male out of the three because my tank isn't tough enough to handle a breeding pair. How is the male aggression towards other species minus the breeding rage? Most of my fish a fairly tough but I worry for my Leopard bush fish and rocket gar. They are pretty tough but neither of these guys take too well to too much bullying.

I found the males to be quite placid when there were no females around. I have two males that have coexisted peacefully since day one, never seen any aggression between them, one is considerably larger than the other now.

Update I found a male. He was in a tank with about 8 other females. I have seen 12 of these guys and only one was male. That is what convinced me to pay sixteen dollars for a fish I can get for six. He has an orange color to the fins and the pointed fins already at this point and his head has the slightest hump look. He is about and inch and a half maybe, will the orange turn to red soon?

he will turn red in time with good water and food.

and yes the yellow color is for sure females. i have noticed the few time i have found these guys at a LFS they seem to have MANY more femails than males.
