I'm interested in the suggested use of .2% salinity for preventative use of external parasites. But this ancient refractometer I have only gives specific gravity readings.

Can some one please provide what this equates to for specific gravity?

TIA

This is for freshwater fish. This is supposely to be a bullet proof method.

.2% salinity, equates to 1.001 specific gravity.

:iagree: yup

standard SG is around 1.020-1.025, which is 2.0 to 2.5 percent
(actually the SG scale is directly related to %age)

also what fish are you dipping?
some are highly intolerant of salt
