Salmanella- I gots its!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Arh! One of the many joys in this hobby. Don't worry too much. At least once you recover, you can boost about it to your friends.

"I'm a true MFK because I got salmonella, :headbang2"

Hope you recover soon :D

damn, one of my worst fears about keeping fish is getting parasites which is why i'm so fastidious about washing my hands after messing with any of my tanks...

Anyway, hope you have a speedy recovery and that you feel better soon...

I hope you are doing fine. I am suprised that your physician did not prescribe antibiotics. Salmanella can get nasty if not treated properly. It's possible to become a nonsymptomatic carrier and continue to give it to the people around you.

I am not a physician but an emergency department nurse, and I have seen some terrible cases! Anyway, I hope you do well and maybe get a second opinon.

Well, I go back to the doctors on Tuesday for follow up. But, I'm feeling a lot better- just having slight stomach issues now.

coincident that it seems to be the ladies who get sick from their tanks?

Are you saying that less mechanical inclination = higher salmonella risk?

If I can give you one bit of advice on how to counter one possible source for this.

Get yourself a reliable thermometer and keep it in your household fridge and freezer.

As a chef/restauranteur I make sure to run my fridges at 1-2 degree that way there is no chance that my foods are above the danger zone.

Many people's home refrigerator is a serious issue because the temperature that they are keeping it at may seem cold enough, yet, it is actually in the danger zone. And therefore their foodstuffs are open to being breeding grounds for bacteria.
