I'm not second guessing the guy. I'm just a rookie still, and wanted to know if it had different colors or what. How can you tell them apart? Does it get bigger? Dorados are my favorites :) just trying to learn more about them.

In an aquarium the max sizes should be about the same, 30" or so. The largest franciscanus is a foot longer and about 20 pounds heavier than the largest brasiliensis (maxilosus is the junior synonym).

An aquarium grown frankie will have some yellow on his head, fins, tail and possibly his belly. An aquarium grown brassy (this guy) should be much yellower, but that is arguable considering how few of these are in the hobby. I'm hoping this one goes to someone who documents its growth so we can learn from their experiences.

I hope in a year or two when I am ready for one of these that another batch will be imported so I can take a crack at one.
