On Nov. 11 I went to the Wolf Lake fish hatchery in Mattawan, Mi to pick up 200 salmon eggs to raise in my classroom. We will release the salmon this coming May when they begin to smolt.
There was an informative meeting prior to getting our salmon eggs. The DNR went over the history of the salmon in the classroom project, gave a lot a freebies to use in the classroom for the project and I connected with some other teachers who are doing the project in their room as well. I took some pics of the eggs and freebies. Here is a link to the DNR website with more info about the project, http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7-153-10369_50075---,00.html Here are the pics.
