salt can help when dissolved fully into the water, but only when situations warrant. it is not a cure all and should not be regularly used. also salt can become pure death if say, you're treating ich in a tank. ich meds + salt = toxin that will destroy your entire tank.
If you are getting nitrite or ich then something is wrong with the husbandry. Either the filter is not working or something else is wrong.
Is the tank cycled? Is the filter and tank volume up to the job? What are the full water params in the tank and out of the tap using up to date test kits and not dip strips? What is the water change regime? Are you using dechlorinator? Etc.....

they didn't say in their first post that they were having any problems, just asking if adding salt during every water change was ok.
i was merely pointing out that if they ever had an outbreak of ich (which would prolly be resistant to salt as it has been being added in low enough volumes every water change) that if they were to medicate their tank with ich meds, it would result in a toxin that would kill their fish.
couldn't tell by their follow up post, as it almost did sound like they were having issues in the tank, but i'm not assuming anything at this point unless they clarify.
