That I do! Mine is a 90 gallon FULL ON BRACKISH....I too adjust my salinity everytime I do a water change....once every 2 weeks....I started with 1.012 when I set it up, now I have been fluctuating between 1.012 & 1.020. They seem to really like that. I have also succesfully converted a few Red Legged Reef Hermit Crabs over to the brackish side! I started with 5 and I am now down to 2, but I will be adding some more very soon. I love to see them crawling all over the place! They love to eat algae, and keep the gravel pretty clean. I add ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS by KENT MARINE on every water change to keep the crabs healthy & happy...

Are those real plants in your brackish? I didn't even attempt to try real plants because 1. There were no varieties that would survive in the salinity I keep and 2. because the scats would make quick work of anything green. In fact I used to feed them leafy foods.

But if they are real plants and your fish are not touching them, what plants are they?

Those are plastic plants...When I set up my tank, I did not know there were live plants I could put in there....But my fish love to pick on the plastic plants, so I can only imagine how the real thing would do....The algae grows on my plastis ones, and they love to pick it off of them. I have yet to start them on the leafy greens, I give them such a variety of foods now, I don't think they would touch it! I feed them freeze dried bloodworms, ocean plankton, and brine shrimp, they also get an algae flake food, and a marine growth pellet. I also soak their freezedried foods in some vitamins....Vitamin C, and Zoecon (both by KENT) They really like this mixture, and seem to be responding to it very well, they are growing like crazy!

I stumbled upon this post searching for brackish water bottom feeders a few minutes ago and after reading it I had to register and become a member. Right now I am setting up a 65 gallon brackish terrarium. In it im keeping mudskippers, archers and fiddler crabs. Am growing a Mangrove tree right now and am looking to getting another one or two more to add. I am still setting it all up and so far only have the gravel, flourite, some driftwood and 2 banana plants and the 1 mangrove. I plan on getting either a fluval or eheim canister filter for it (its taking time as i am poor) and building a nice waterfall in the corner. I really want to check out your 90 gallon brackish tank but cant yet cause i need to make 5 posts first but i am really interested in seeing what it looks like. Along with your black arowana.

Hello All,

I have an 80 gallon long where I keep brackish fish (scats, datnoids and eels). I keep the Salinity at 1.016 and often push it to 1.020 because the fish seem healthier in that salinity.

My question is, does anyone know of a Monster tank dedicated to this type of set-up? My goal is to have a 400+ tank in the next year OR two that will be based on an estuary biotype/ open sea. I would like to see some ideas or chat about possibilities for set-ups.

I want it to hold other SW fish that also thrive in those areas like puffers and snappers and that sort.

Woah! 1.016 SG is the highest I've ever heard of dats being. I presume they're silver dats, Datnioides quadrifasciatus, right?

SUPER AGRO MALE Blue Crab. Is moving into species only tank next week.

I had 2 hog chokers, a blue channel, an albino channel, a needle fish, a dragon goby, 2 more bumble bees and 2 more fidders. Between the puffer and mainly the blue crab, they all were eaten or beat up.

I love brackish tanks, the fish are so awesome. A huge school of monos would be rediculous!!!!
