Has anyone here used walmart salt pellets to treat your tank? Not the rust remover type. Rays are fine, but my Aro has had redness on one side for a couple weeks. Anyway, thinking about adding some salt pellets for our water softner. I remember someone talking about doing this awhile back. Gonna put it in with my mechanical filteration so it can dissolve over time. Bag said 99.8% pure salt. Thanks.

I would just stick with the solar salt or aquarium salt unless you are 100% sure it is safe to use. It could have anti caking agents or other nasties in it and the solar salt is very cheap

solar salt!

I use the morton water softener salt on my tanks all the time and never encountered any negative effects. I get it from home depot. Not really familiar with the wal-mart salt though.
