Im thinking of changing my substrate but the black sand blasting sand is going to be way too dark since im creating a dark overhang at the back of the tank. PFS is too bright so i was thinking of mixing the 2 to make a salt & pepper look. Does anyone have pictures of there tanks so i can decide ? Also if anyone has any better ideas . . . . chip in !

That link just takes me to caribsea, its easy to imagine black & white sand mixed on its own but im wanting tank pics so i know how dark/light it will be. Any any cons that people have come across whilst doing this mix.

wow, it looks pretty cool esp if you have matching granite rocks.

i have two tanks right now with mixed sand subtrate. i really like it

this is a pic of my community tank but i also have it in with my flowerhorn
sorry for the bad phone pic

They both look good thank you ! I just needed a little convincing since i knew plain black would look too dark and white would look un natural for my scape choice. Do they mix well or do you find that the smaller grain ends up at the bottom over time ?

ive had mine that way for about 2 years and i havent had much trouble with them seperating. my white sand is much finer than the black but it still stays mixed well.
i like the mixed sand because it usually brings out the coloring in all the fish.

If they do start separating you can just stir it back together. You should be stirring your sand every now and then (not the entire tank at once) to keep gas pockets from forming and other things.
