hey guys I recently bought a 180g tank and it has 3 holes at the bottom. I was gonna run my canister through the drilled holes but I found a good deal in an estoppel rs200 sump and I was wondering if there wold be any issue with using this sump?
There's no fundamental difference between a saltwater sump and a freshwater sump. You might want to throw a lot of media into the sump that it wouldn't have when being used in saltwater though. Doesn't seem to be a convenient place for it.hey guys I recently bought a 180g tank and it has 3 holes at the bottom. Yea it has a section for a filter sock and a large open area that I believe is for a protein skimmer. Would it be OK to just leave the media laying there or should I make like a little riser platform for it.There's no fundamental difference between a saltwater sump and a freshwater sump. No media, just the bare sump.If the sump came with Bio - Balls or even Ceramic Rings they can be used but should be rinsed off or soaked to remove the salt.
Nice, thanks for your help.Yes, you can add ceramic noodles, lava rock, rock, bio ribbons or balls, or anything upon which bacteria will grow.
It's ok, but if you can rig up a basket or something so you can easily lift the media out, and you'll want to try to make sure the water goes through the media rather than over it.Yea it has a section for a filter sock and a large open area that I believe is for a protein skimmer.
