Saltwater sump on a freshwater tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Were the three holes in the tank once for a Bean Animal type drain? That would be nice that you already have that for plumbing.

As said the only thing really specific for salt is you need the lower water level in the empty chamber for the protein skimmer - just raise the wall in your case for thr rs200. For convenience I like the mesh bags containing bio-media idea. Or you could drop in some marine pure blocks and call it good. I personally wouldn't bother with any paltform as the water will be contantly moving through your sump.

Good luck take picture.

I see holes with perhaps more holes or reflection of the same holes. Do you have a picture of a few feet back to get a perspective of what were looking at LOL.

Sorry, those are reflections and there are only 3 holes.

OK. Those appear to be within some type of overflow box as it looks dark. You could use for your drain. You may need to go over tank wall for the return(s). Unless you wanted to drill through the sides.

Feel free to ask questions if you are unclear on anything or just looking for more ideas.
