Does anyone have a Salvini?I spotted one at Pet Supplies Plus for under 4 dollars 2 inches long, should I go for the deal on this Salvini,it will be put into the 125 gallon fish tank, with the rest of my Cichlids, which is the tiger oscar, jack dempsey, black convict, green terror, severum, firemouth.

The largest Cichlid is my 10 inch Tiger Oscar,6 inch Jack Dempsey,3 in half inch GT,4 inch Severum, close to 3 inch firemouth,2 inch texas,2 inch black convict.I am in Aurora actually. To be honest, majority of the Pet Supplies Plus anywhere will do a special order for you on specific fishes they can get their hands on.The one by me currently has ebjds, gold severums, angel fishes, green terror, blue rams, salvinis, firemouths as of right now.

If your oscar doesnt gobble him up, go for it.

I wouldn't put a two inch fish with a ten inch oscar. My 4 inch oscar eats 2 inch convicts regularly. Although I have a 2 inch salvini and s/he is a mean sucker. They are pretty aggressive fish. They won't really do damage but they never back down and regularly flare their gills and ram other fish. ( In my experience anyway, which is quite small with this species) If you grew him to about 4 inches I think he would do well with your other cichlids. Careful you don't overstock though.

Well, even if I did grow the Salvini to 4 inches, the Oscar will just eat it even if it wanted too,but I have a 2 inch black convict and a 2 inch texas with my 10 inch oscar, surprisingly enough the Oscar doesn't mind the texas being next to him.The only tank,I could still have up and running is my 10 gallon tank, the 55 gallon is torn down for sale.So I am not 100% sure,if a 10 gallon would really work.

id say no since its 2 inches and it would get bullied and eaten by the oscar but if it did work thats awesome since salvini's have good color and nice cichlids im thinking bout if i want one for my spring tank (55G long)

Salvini's aren't stupid cichlids. They won't just hang around waiting for the oscar to take a swipe at them. Provide enough hiding spaces and the Sal will be fine. Beware though, they are fiesty little cichilds.

I had a beautiful female for a while but she hid most of the time. She had a terracotta pot that was hers and anyone who came near would get a nip in the tail or worse. My female Sal also viciously beat up a male convict roughly the same size overnight. I almost lost him. I eventually took her back because the only time I saw her was when she was beating someone up or swiping a pellet and sneaking back to her little cave.
