Salvini colour ?

OK here is about the only pic I've been able to take. I had to chase around the tank to get this one. As if that wont stress him out !! With the camera i can just start to see a bit of colour. But I've seen pics of bright yellow. Oh ya, there's one of my J.D. as well.

nice looking fish! You have a male salvini if you didn't know and it will not be bright yellow it will most likely stay like that mustard color. If you want the salvini that's bright yellow I would say get a female salvini. Also cool JD.

are salvinis only the yellow hue? I've seen a couple of pics on a different website that showed them a deep blue almost purple couple. it showed the juvi's as being yellow and adults being the blue.

males are far less yellow IME than females. Your male is nice but has got to be the darkest I'v ever seen.. Very cool!

RucK: Man that big male is a BEAST in the first 2 pics.

Had to look twice cause he almost looked like a parachromis IMO with the horizontal head bands washed out. Arent they related to eachother somehow?

Nicer specimen should be colored up at 4". I have seen two "races" that are really nice. There is a gold/yellow race where the male is gold/yellow with some red on the belly. My favorite though is the blue race. Only the males have blue. The males are just stunning. The babies from this pair started coloring up at .5-1".
