Salvini, deppi hybridize. :(

That's very unusual that a cichlid would chose a completely different species to mate with - especially given that a female of the same species is available. I wonder why that happened?

It happens. Def grow a few to see what they look like.

Just an update on the situation.

Seems an interesting turn around may have happened. I decided to catch a remove the salvini in to the 350g tank, as they were both cleaning sites again.

Since then the deppi pair seem to have re kindled the bond again and now are cleaning rocks and digging. Hopefully eggs are next, fingers crossed.
