Just picked up this Salvini. 99% sure this is a male even though my lfs swears it is female. Also, why are some more colorful than others? Do their color come in when they pair up or something?
10000000% MALE and if anyone disagrees you really do not know how to sex fish lol. That is about as male as anything can get lol. NICE tall body and great markings!
Male salvini.... females usually have a blue blotch on their gills.
It will colour up more once settled.... and during breeding it will be quite a looker!
Nice, I see somebody likes to make asinine comments about others laughing at the fact that they used a stupid number to describe the certainty with witch they identified the sex of a fish. Very mature.
Just to make a note, aphilophus' salvinis are in breeding coloration. With a single specimen, it is less likely that you'll see these colors. Notice the bright red coloration throughout the body below the lateral line on the female. Nice pair.
