salvini question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What about a rainbow cichlid as a tank mate? They stay small and can stick up for themselves. I have a pair of firemouths in a 30 long at the moment. If they need a bigger home someday, we'll make it happen. I think people get too hung up on what tank size a fish needs for its max size.

I meant a firemouth instead of a salvini, not together.. Sorry for the miscommunication

Oh, then I agree! My bad for not understanding that.

I dont think that at all.

Very few people people (other than MFKers on here) ever upgrade tanks or even know that a fish doesnt "grow to its tank size". We see threads on here everyday with people thinking a 55 is fine for 2 oscars, a jd and 4 convicts etc., all while running 1 HOB and doing water top offs or changing the water every 2-3 months...and that they are "planning on getting a 300g" for their birthday or whatever, yet a yr later, they dont have it.

Also, very few, if any, pet stores inform their patrons of a fishes final size and that water changes need to be weekly etc.

Its up to us to let everyone know the proper setup that will eventually be needed and that their fish will outgrow something if its too small.
