hmm thay definatly seem tuff enough to hang with large cichlids i think ill get a female but how big do females get i've been told thay don't get bigger than5-6'' and males can get 8'' also do male and female have the same amount of aggression
 
Aggression is going to vary by individual, but in general you can expect that the male is going to be more aggressive than the female.
 
I keep my 4" salvini in a 125 with a FM and two 3-4" oscars for the time being. It has become the boss of the tank and makes sure that nobody invades its driftwood cave. Once the oscars start to grow larger both the FM and the salvini will be moved to one of my empty tanks.

IMO, they have the prettiest colors out of any cichlid in its size range.

i dont think tht ud have to move them,that should be enough room for those fish. i wouldent put any more fish in there though
 
okay now i have to get one man that sucks yours died it is so pretty. but i don't know if thats a male and females look better holly cow thay must be awsome . i hope i can get one that big but right know my biggest tank is a 55 and has a jaguar, jack dempsy, mayan and firemouth cichlids in it do you think i could get one and put it in there till i get my 120 or 125
or do you think it will try to kill some of my cichlids
 
It wont last in that tank with the mayan and Jag. Im suprised the FMs arent dead yet. The jag will swallow it whole. They can put up a fight but not against a cichlid that reach 18 inches and is aggressive like hell just broke loose. It will beat up the FMs thats about it. A 125 is too small for the fish youy have now anyways i would say put the FMs and the salvini is the 55. Male salvini are awesome once they get past the 3 inch mark they really shine in color. I think male sals are nicer just because the have speckled faces.
