Same species of Amazon Puffer but bigger one eats , smaller ones do not eat specific food

Try live blackworms if you can source them; my puffers seem to like them quite a bit. Did you treat your puffers with internal parasites? I've kept C. asellus quite a few times, and the ones that were treated for parasites adjusted to captivity a lot better than the ones that weren't. And I do agree with Deadeye; puffers are a lot more individualistic. One of my puffers will eat nothing but brine shrimp, one is an absolute glutton that eats nearly everything I offer, and one's picky about everything, but usually settles for a bloodworm or two. I think variety is key; offer as many unique foods as you can and see if they'll eat it. I tend to give mine small portions of boiled shrimp, frozen krill broken into chunks, occasionally blackworms if my LFS has some, frozen bloodworms, frozen brine shrimp, frozen mysis shrimp, small chopped earthworms, tiny bits of silverside, occasional ghost/neocaridina shrimp, and I have seen them eating some detrius worms and small aquatic copepods. They are in a community tank with some tetras, which do act more like a dither. How many puffers do you have? They seem to do a lot better the more there are; you also do have to be careful when purchasing puffers as I believe almost all are wild-caught, and they tend to stress out much more easily. Ones with inverted bellies, lopsided swimming, tendency to hover, tattered fins, etc. often have parasites and usually don't seem to react too well to treatment and captivity. Good luck! Hopefully they can get established onto something soon. It's good to see that at least one puffer's eating. He might encourage the others to eat as well.
All amazons are wild caught…if anyone breeds them they will make a lot of money.
If I’m correct P professorjimjam has had these for a while now but you are right that amazons and parasites basically go hand in hand. Definitely something to look out for.

thank you very much.I have 4 amazons now. I had 3 smalls And purchased a large 12 cm long around 5 months ago. They swim correctly, play, and generally are happy and don’t show any sign of paradise or sickness. All of them eat, frozen blood worms, live Tubifex, life mosquito larva any kind. Pretty much anything that is alive and moving they will eat.
the large one eats also beef heart frozen as shown in the video, also he steals algae wafers from plecos food, he will eat algae wafers as well. The small amazons do not eat beef heart or algae wafers. They also do not eat mysis frozen shrimps .
another surprising fact is that none of the amazon puffers would eat anything that is shrimp. I have more than 60 alive and moving cherry red shrimps in the tank, I bought themas food treat for them but they all survived, because the amazon puffers did not eat them. They also do not eat mussels as well, neither fresh ones nor frozen ones.
last Year, I had another amazon puffer that was eating everything, that one died due to cold water temperature and also that I was Inexperienced. Now, I have these amazon puffers for 10 months and the large one for 5 months. I don’t bring any other fish in the tank, becuade I don’t want any trouble with diseases. The water temp, quality is perfect, as the guppies and bristlenoses are making babies continuously. I could just think that these amazons do not like shrimps at all.
thank you
