I am going to grow out some LDA105 Typhoon Plecos. I got 4 in this week and looking to get another 8. My question is, due to how expensive these guys go for should I raise them in separate tanks as a fail safe? This is to ensure that if anything happens I still have the other group. I will be putting 6 in each 40 gallon breeder. Let me know your thoughts on this.

If you would like. I personally see no problems with it.
The old adage, 'Don't put all your eggs in one basket' would apply, I think.

Would help in dispersing aggression and whatnot somewhat while they are little, too. Bioload strain will be lower. There is always more benefit in having more tanks and less fish per tank.

Doesn’t hurt. After I lost my first breeding group of zebra plecos to a heater failure, which was devastating, I made sure to split up my next group into multiple tanks.

My main breeders got battery backups for the filters, emergency pumps that kick on during power failures, and temp controllers for the heaters just to be safe. Sub adult grow outs and fry were also spread out in random tanks as backup.

Is your future goal to breed them? If so, it’ll be a long wait

Breeding is the end goal. I know this will be a 5+ year project.
