I wouldn't want to be on that second floor during an earthquake...walking around up there feels like that whole upper level can come crashing down at any second.
I'm the first person to speak up when I see a fish that isn't being properly cared for, but since their turnover is so high, I don't think it's that bad that their display tanks are pretty small...it's only temporary. If it were long term, it would be a different story.
Their stock is hit or miss. I've gotten some really nice fish from them. It's kinda weird how they have you net your own fish, but that's how they roll. Their prices are typically very good...all in all, I don't think it's a bad shop, but I hear what you are saying.
A few months ago I bought an 8" flagtail out of one of those tiny little cube displays...couldn't have been more than 32 ounces of water, but he looked healthy so I bought him. I also picked up a group of Arulius Barbs from there which are awesome and now have 60 fry...let me know if you are interested...selling them for $1 each.

Agreed, I've had some really good buys from their and even though some of there fish are in very small tanks less then a gallon, it's still only temporary and I've seen a few other stores do the same thing but there only temporary.. But really, what do you guys expect it's a half fish store half flower shop in china town in San Francisco, how nice is it really gonna be?

lol. I think they burn some sort of incense in the front of the shop...it only makes it worse.
Last time I was there they had a huge Nurse shark (at least a 3 footer) in one of the center displays towards the back of the shop...felt pretty bad for that fish since the tank he was in could not have been much more than 100G.
