Thanks for the responses. So originally I was thinking of getting black sand at Petsmart that has bacteria already in it, not really sure that matters however. But my next question is, is there a black colored pool filter sand?
Also, I've never used canister filters yet so I'm not really sure how they operate other than pumping more water faster. I thought that the intake for them had to be drilled into the side and same goes for the output but with a powerhead, didn't know you could just lay the tubing in.
