I was just wondering has anybody ever used the sand or gravel that you can buy for ponds from home depot in there fish tanks, if so do it work just as well as the regular gravel and sand for aquarium, it seems its a lot cheeper from homedepot.

I've used it. It's great, but it does change colour over a few weeks and looks dirty if you don't regularly turn it over. But for the price, it's 5 stars.
Depends how deep you want to go...
I think I used a whole 55lb bag for about half an inch of sand on top of my gravel in my 125g.

Wash it toughly, the rocks "pond pebbles" i got form Homedepot were claimed to be pre cleaned by they were very muddy. Power sprayer FTW. Other than that looks great.
what color dose the sand comes in, and what color dose the gravel comes in, i want to go purchase some tomarrow, should i take the fish out when putting either in the tank
