Sand Cleaning?

I have heard good and bad things about that vac. Do you use it on sand?

I only use sand in every tank except my qt/hopsital tank. Not sure what could be bad about a fully submersible/ battery powered vac that actually works. Takes about 5 minutes to vac the top of the sand and another 5 to change filter socks. 10 minutes of maintenance for a 300 gallon tank works great for me.

It DOES work a lot better on pool filter sand than playsand or ecco complete since pfs is a larger particle size, but either way it works, and I house lots of loricariids with lots of poop

I heard that it couldn't pick up the small stuff. Something about it going through the bag. It sounds like it works for you so I might have to pick one up. It's about 55 bucks at petsmart so I'm still up in the air about it.

to pick up the heavy stuff you gota take off the big barrel part and just use the hose by itself, the smaller diameter makes stronger suction, then you have to slightly hover over the sand so only the tank debris get sucked up and not the sand, you're always gona lose some sand tho, nothing you can really do about it, besides sand is dirt cheap pun intended.

when your done cleaning it, get ya a decent powerhead and get some good water circulation in the tank. that will keep the sand clean 247 afterwards.
