Ah well. Glad to hear she is coming around.

Normally my males are quite abit more skittish than the ever hungry females.

SAND GIVES THE RAYS SOMETHING TO DO....., AS WELL AS A PLACE TO HIDE. BOTH HELP LOWER THEIR STRESS LEVEL.

I DONT THINK THEM SIFTING THROUGH THE SAND ALL DAY WILL KEEP THE RAY FROM PUTING ON WEIGHT / MASS. IT PROBABLY WILL ACTUALLY HELP BOOST THEIR MASS /PHYSIC AS WELL AS FOOD INTAKE. i BELIEVE THIS IS HOW FISH PUT ON MASS. NOT SURE THOUGH -JUST MY2CENTS-

WHAT DOES EVERYBODY THINK......

think about this,
bare bottom is slippy,
if anything when my rays had a bare bottom tank they were workin out more then with sand.

They were like forward moon walkers!:woot:

thats funny....

no need for caps buddy;) this is one of those preference things...me I keep on bare bottom or have used a 3/8ths pebble before bare bottom is a lot easier to clean and my rays were bigger.... also miles try feeding red wigglers to fatten her up more... a lot more to them then black worms...

I JUST FIND IT HELPS..., SO THAT UR RAYS DON'T GET BULLIED, BITTEN-UP, AND STRESSED OUT BECAUSE OF OTHER FISH/RAYS BOTHERING THEM....;) IT GIVES THEM A PLACE TO HIDE.....

AS LONG AS YOU MOVE A LOT OF WATER IN THE TANK THE SAND WILL STAY CLEAN. ALSO MY RAYS MOVE ALL OF THE SAND AROUND ALL DAY LONG. THIS ALSO HELPS IT FROM BECOMING ANEROBIC....

:nilly:

thats really good..... you probably dont have any problems keeping your sand clean.....

I just thinned out my sand and the rays do an excellent job of keeping it turned over... There is now bare 'tracks' all around the tank where the rays cleared it away from the parameter.. This is where I drop the blackworms, so they can't burrow.. They seem to be taking to the thinner sand, and it seems to be staying alot more free of debris.
