Ok so the problem is I have a 210 gallon tank with 2 large oscars about 12 inches each along with 1 pleco.

i know this isn't related to your sand question but i'd like to compliment you for keeping these fish in appropriately sized tank, good job

really every two? one of my Oscars starts to jump out of the tank to get the food by the end of the night

Yeah sometimes I've got a lot of fish and tight on money right now. Adult fish can go a week without eating. I've got some juveniles now so I feed every other day but I feed quit a bit when I do feed. As long as you don't feed a lot twice a day is fine if you can afford it more power to you. but remember more food more mess in the tank. What filters are you running on your tank? My main tank feed three different kinds of food very time then my other three just get one kind.

Doesnt the output of the fx5 stir the bottom if you aim the nozzle down? Do you have your intake on the same side as your output?

Yes, the current will push some sand around but you just have to adjust the output nozzles so they skim the surface a little bit and the watch everything settle in. Your filter will be most efficient if you had the input and output on opposite sides.

ive tried this but no matter what angle i put it it makes to great of a current and clogging my other filters with sand

Get a sand sifter for the tank....My large Syndontis eupterus breaks up whatever is on the sand and I run a circulation pump to keep the particles suspended as long as possible....FX5 and Xp3 on a 150 gallon. Might want to ditch the pleco though if you want a clean tank....they are famous for tank pollution!

was actully considering getting a Ray but i fear my tank might be to small for him to grow and that my larger oscar will pick at him if i get one not sure what a good breed/type of fresh water ray would be good to mix with oscars if any

i dont i have them on each side on the back of the tank i was going to move them closer so i could retry to make the nozzle aim down and hope that a lot of sand dosent get stir up
