sand help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
rays come from lower ph waters, but can be acclimatized to live quite well and breed in higher ph water, as proven by grapedinox and others on this site. mine live quite comfortably in 8+ ph water as well and the male is just reaching the age where he wants to try to get some action.

You already said that the ph in the tank was around 6,5 . And the ph in tap was 7-7,6 , to me that seems like a good reason to add the sand that you did. And you shouldnt worry about it a bit. I myselfe have 7,5 in my tap, and once registered that i had 6,5(1 day after WC) in my tank, i added some shell sand to raise the ph in my tank, to get it the same.. When you have low KH in the tap, you have to do this..When the bio load is big, the ph seems to drop alot easyer.
