I cleaned Sand place it in tank and it went cloudy...

4 days later it cleared up...

No fish in it yet but have read and seen that you have to rake the sand from time to time to release gases and any other debris that might be below the surface...

I tested this theory and raked through the sand just a bit to stir it up...its Cloudy again...so my question it does this nightmare ever end or do I just have to settle for a cloudy tank

If its play sand /construction sand that is the hardest to clean, even pool sand takes a bit.
if you vacuum let it settle and the fine stuff will come out when you do this.

I bought African Cichlid Sand...Cleaned like it said on bag....Err I'm just gonna strip the sand and clean it again...this Sux

What was the brand of sand you used? I bought carbisea and I didn't even wash it and it was for my African cichlids. It was cloudy for maybe a day.

put the sand in a bucket then put water in the same bucket, stir the sand around in the bucket of water drain and continue the same process till sand is clean

Put the sand in a pillow case

Sounds interesting do you just wash it out in the case kind of like a tea bag? I'm going to be setting up a 38 or 46 gallon for my son and I was going to try pool filter sand. I will have to try this way. Do you just let the water keep running?
