I have normal sand in my tank, and for some reason it is always looking really mucky. Starting to make me go a bit mental.

What is the best way to keep it clean?

I have tried feeding my fish less, and making sure they eat everything, but still it just looks really mucky...

How is the flow in your tank? Do you have any powerheads? Good filtration and water movement are essential to keeping sand looking awesome.

Ah, no...

Don't have a powerhead in my tank, I do have two external filters though...

thanks very much for the tip :)

you're very welcome! I am sure there are lots more people that have even more helpful advice for you dude :naughty:

what do you mean by "normal" sand...
the smaller the grains the faster it will look "mucky" simply because it compacts more smoothly than large grains..

Sorry for the lack of technical terms. Living in Holland everything is written in Dutch so figuring out specifically what something is hard as it is, let alone trying to figure out the translation!

It is very fine sand... so I think judging by what you said then that is probably it, so will make sure to have a look for some thicker sand.
