Sand or gravel?

pool filter sand - heavier and cleans more easily
play sand - requires much more initial cleaning, lighter so if you have HOB filters it's easier for the sand to get clogged in the impeller.

i have play sand cus i can't find PFS but i still like it

I personally think sand looks better but it is harder to clean and shows waste a lot more. But They both look good.

I use sand in all of my tanks. You just have to take better caution with your filters. letting the sand settle before you turn the filters on. I just bought 200# for $20. I use white silica sand.

so as long as you don't run the filter with stirred up sand you wont get it in filter?

Just make sure the end of your intake strainers aren't too close to the bottom so if fish kick up some sand it doesn't get into the filter.

i use both my 55 has sand and my 75 has gravel and i like the look of the sand so much better that i might switch the 75 to sand

and use pfs like every 1 has said
