sand or no sand

don't use crushed coral. It gets very dirty very quickly. Try river rocks. You can get those pretty cheap at Home Depot and it'll look really nice. :)

I love pool filter sand....looks much better, is not as fine, easier to clean....and you dont have to rinse it NEAR as much before you put it in. I have play sand in my 300 and i'm not really happy with it.

50 pounds is about 5 or 6 bucks and it is a tan color with some specks
i can take a pic of mine if you would like

cool i'd like to check it out. i wanted black sand but its going for like 20 buck for 20 punds . thats to expensive for a 240. i also use cruched natural black gravel, i like that but once again pricey. menards had play sand for 3 buck for 50 or 70 lbs. but i'll check out your pics to compare.

Play sand is a LOT finer and much harder to clean/keep clean. It also traps air bubbles which for some reason i cant stand lol.

Also like ive said before you have to rinse and rinse and rinse play sand...pool filter sand i have never rinsed...that alone is worth the small price difference to me :grinyes:
