sand or no sand?

called the local swiming pool supplier, $5.00 and some change for a 50lbs bag. thats good!!!! better then 29.99 at petsmarts for a 25 lbs bag. imma try the pool sand in a emtey tank and see how it goes.
 
I prefer pool filter sand. Very cheap, easy to replace and clean!

I also think its healthier for rays to have sand vs. bare bottom but thats a debate for another day....

i agree with you with the bare bottom, i can see the poop, lefted over food, and the filters just sweep the bottom of the tank. On the other hand, natural environment is always good.
 
Rays get more excersize and peace of mind IMO.

ok, went to my local pool supplier and got 8 bags (50lbs ea.) of silica #20 grit sand, will this be good?
 
8 bag? 3 bags is ore then enough. my 180g i used 2 bags.
