  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Im going to keep an eye on my festae. They have been moving the sand I'm my tank around alot it they start to develop larger teeth as they grow then it most likely true.

So bare bottom tanks would promote larger teeth aswell?

interesting anyways. will have to take notice when i use sand in my doviis final tank

Compared to what? This is kind of unknown because of so many other variables, but I definitely think sand is less abrasive for teeth, the rest is for genetics and diet to decide

Compared to my 29 convict tank That has gravel.

it makes sense

Well, unless you compare it to other festae, ideally siblings, in a gravel tank, you will get inconclusive results. But if you see your festae teeth larger then normal, then the sand theory gets a +1 haha.

Ok so I'm gunna move my con with my female in my 95 and put my male alone in the 29 and see what happens in a few weeks.

Worth a shot, I'm not sure how to test the teeth though, not sure cons teeth are visible... Guess your going to have to get bit :)

Lol when I netted him I put my finger in it's mouth while it was gasping for air. The male festaes were somewhat sharp and the cons were real dull and worn down. I'm gunna keep an eye on him too since I know he likes to redecorate the tank he'll be moving sand out the spongebob house soon. Hopefully the female doesn't kill him before I can get some results.
