dont use it i got it cuz it looks natural but it clouds up all the time in my 40g, but in my 180 i have beach type sad which is heavy grained and great looking, dont get pool filter sand unlesss you like an unnatural white color
I don't have any problem with it clouding up alot, a little plume that settles down fast here and there if a turtle takes off too quickly but that's about it
Well I will throw my opinion into this foray and say it will work fine. No matter how much you wash it, it will cloud the water for a bit. My best solution to this is to get a water clarifier and then stuff a filter full of filter floss. Let it run for 12-24 hours and the water will be mostly clear. Do a water change and you'll have clear water.
An alternative to this that I just tried is Quickrete All Purpose sand and I found it to be much easier to wash and it was far less silty. It has a slightly different color than play sand though.
I go with a fine grade pea gravel which you can get cheap from most Quary/landscapeing business'.. I had a horrible experiance with PFS. Horrible as in it killed off most my tank... I repeatedly washed it prior, and added 1 5 gallon bucket full.. 24 hours noticed fish acting funny.. 48 hours I noticed some started swimming oddly ( sand was immediately syphoned out at this point) that night 2 of my fire eels puked up their gills.. and my Royal pleco keeled over.... next day day I could do nothing but watch my last fire eel puke up it's gills and die as well.. and last was my Ornate Bichir... all fish I had had for monthes/years prior w/out any incident or issues. the only fish unaffected where my 2 florida gar. It was one of the most horrifying experiances I've had in fishkeeping.
