Sand Question

All we seem to have around here is white as well, I am on a constant search for brown!

Hey I'll trade you a couple bags of white for a couple of brown.... we're only about 1900 miles apart...

Darker substrate means more colorful fish. Just a thought.

Hmmmm, hadn't thought of that. I've gotta check out more pictures to decide which one I like best, white or brown.

how do u wash ur pool filter sand? its way to big for a strainer.....what do you use?

I did my black sand this way:

They came in 20# bags, so I dumped half a bag into a 5 gallon bucket. Went outside with a garden hose and rinsed. Lots of black silt came up, so I tilted the bucket to let the silt get out, and repeat. Stirred up the sand with my hands, more silt rose, repeated. Just a lot of rinsing and repeating in a big bucket.
