Sand substrate- cloudy water?

Commercial cichlid sand sometimes has buffers added to help raise pH, these can sometimes give water a temporary milky look.
I prefer pool filter sand as a base, it is inert and doesn't produce extra color in the water.
I also like that a 50lb bag is probably little more than $5.
Yeah this sand has pH buffer in it. I think that's why it's so bad.

So we ended up draining some of the water and adding more carefully at a slower rate. Looking a lot better now! Will post pics when done

So this is the result. Still cloudy but a lot better than what is was.
Now leaving it to settle and hopeful the filter will help also!

I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to keep yet. Still in the planning stages of that lol my LFS recommended the sand because of the natural look. I am interested in Africans though
