So I know it's all personal choice but I'l like to find out what other people prefer. I';m setting up and asian stream biotype and wated to put in some sand but I'm not sure what colour.

I have some rasboras, a red tail shark and soon some loaches, so the sand has to be safe for bottom feeders.

I thought white sand with black river rocks but I don't want the white to wash out the colour of the shark. Or I could also go with black sand and white river rocks but I'm not sure how that would look with a black background too. I'm worried it's too many shades of black.

The other option is a natural coloured sand.

Any preferences???

even if you don't comment could you at least vote please.
Thanks

if you have a Leslies Pool Supply store, pick a bag of thier PFS... its very natural looking, somthing you'd find at the lake lol. i have 3 50lbs bags in my 100 and my eel loves it lol

i dont like black or white sand. (it looks good if you do it right)

I like natural. lots of members here like the natural look too.

Personally i hate gravel. to me it looks ... elementary.

but like any substrate, whatever you choose. If you do it right and have a good eye for asthetics, any substrate can look good.

edit: I have pool filter sand also. love the stuff. cheap, easy to clean, heavier than other sand, doesnt affect PH. and its natural colored.

i like natural sand.. black also looks nice if done right.. IMO it either needs a LOT of plants with it or no plants...

i like black sand if you go for darker colored rocks. white sand show fish poop to much.

I voted black, I have natural colored sand in my 75 gallon currently, I had black gravel before and the fish looked so much better with the black gravel so if I change it out I'm going to switch to black sand.
