Sand Substrate Pictures!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Here's a couple of pics of the sand we just put in our new 300 gallon tank. It's from CaribSea, called Ivory Coast sand. It's not too fine and not too coarse. We used 250 lbs in the 300 gallon tank and 50 lbs. in the 45 gallon tank.

Whoah, that sand looks awesome! Where did you find that? Are the grains big enough that they stay down?

I use PoolFilterSand and it clears up fast and the partickles are big enough to not get sucked into your filters.

Heres a video with PFS on my 75G

Really nice tank.

Is that a bullhead in there? How many of your fish has it eaten?

I have one I caught when it was like 2 inches long now its about 6 but its in a 20g by itself I'm afraid it'll eat my black ghost knife if I put it in my 125.

Thanks man, he hasnt eaten any at all. Hes small around 4 inches and very lazy.
Not sure its a bullhead, looks like a brown bullhead but his coloring is more black and white than brown, i actually made a thread in the catfish section today to help id him.

Anwyays thanks for the kind words, but lets not derail this thread and make it about my awesome tank ;). Just PM me if you got more questions

I have TMS, PFS and a mix of both in my 125g.. I like them all, and they are all a good size grain.. not too big, not too small.. Although with TMS, you have to inspect the bag carefully, I have found that each bag is a little different.. some are finer, sharper and larger grains compaired to each other..
