Sand V Gravel the great debate

hmmm, so is sand safer than gravel?I was thinking of using sand for my tank, but I am worry if my bichirs choked them self

I use sand for my bichir. Gravel I would think would just feel crappy for them, going over the bumps and all. Since their on the bottom a bare bottom tank would just look weird with them so for bichirs I like sand.

Sand is good but you can still grow plants in gravel. its a personal choice

If you have an acrylic tank, I would definitely go with sand just because gravel is more likely to scratch when doing gravel vacuums.
