Sand V Gravel the great debate

I think it depends on the looks you are going for,sometimes gravel looks more natural than sand, and vice versa. If I was to have a salt water tank, sand would be a definate.

I wana try the "underwater ruins" look hence I'm considering the tiles.. Specifically those with a rough rocky surface.. Yeah any other substrate for salt water tanks besides sand would be just weird..

i use black gravel

for one of my bicher tank its all sand about 1"1/2 to 2" deep and so that i dont worry about gasses i have clams in there with them they turn the sand over. there my tanks personal farmers
