Sand VS Gravel VS River rocks

I have Black Tahitian Moon Sand in my 75g and Pool Filter Sand in my 50g.

Clean up is simple...just siphon the top of the sand. I seem to have more algae forming on top of the Pool Filter Sand than the Black Sand, but it's black sand...probably doesn't show. The only down side is you got to make sure it's not touching your filter intake. The sand will wear the impella down quicker. But I like it...makes it look more natural to me and it just looks better IMO. I use to have a tank where I mixed pebbles and sand. Great look.

Pool filter sand for the most part here........ River rock can collect lots of waste. My sifters (rostratus, altifrons, longimanus, etc.) will always have sand, but I would go bare bottom if I could in most cases.

3 dollars of play sand at home depo for 50lbs nice and cheaper than river stones
