Would either of these bags of sand be sutible for an aquarium? If so how many pounds would i need approximately to get 3'' of sand for a 220 gallon(72''x24''x30")

i went to home depot and got something similar to the one on top. wash it a ton, and prob get like 300 lbs, but depends on footprint, it says on bag how much to get

Pool filter sand is much better than play sand. Its cleaner and more dense. I have used both and will never use play sand again.

I bought him at a local store that installs pools and hot tubs.

How much does pool filter sand cost?

Around here, it is about $8 for 50 lbs. Its more expense than play sand, but a lot cheaper than CaribSea sand.

Trust me, you will not regret paying a little more. It would take hours and hours longer to clean that much play sand vs pool filter sand.

I used to have it in my 220. I cannot remember it is was 5 or 6 bags. I had close to 3" coverage. It surprised how much coverage it was based on the number of bags.

I look into getting some pool filter sand.

Don't use Quikrete! And pool sand all the way.
