I am changing gravel to sand. What is the best sand I can get for my stingrays and where? I hear silica sand should not be used. Thanx in advance!

I use play sand form home depot and have'nt had any problems. I give it a good rinsing to get the dust and loose particles out. I've seen a lot of people use pool filter sand too and say they have great results.

I switched all my tanks to Pool Filter sand.

Love this stuff. Doesnt get sucked up by the siphon and looks good too.

And its CHEAP!! $9.99 for a 50 lb bag.

Go to the garden section of home depot,Look for pool filter sand thats what I used 50# bag for like $5. It looks so great now.

i know it's WAY more expensive but i like the black sand you can get at pets stores. i just cant find it anywhere else.

I went to my LFS and they told me I shouln't use sand because the rays will eat it and die. They also told me sand should only be used with saltwater stingrays. They said I should use fine gravel. What do you think?

they're high on crack! snad is fine for rays.
