Sand

I got sand for my tank that I will be setting up next week, when I normally use gravel I clean it off before putting it in my tank, do I have to do the same thing with sand?? I am new with sand so idk

it's a good idea to rinse it
prevents alot of unwanted floating debris
 
Yes it would be really wise to rinse first, you wouldn't want any debris or make your tank look cloudy and ugly. :)
 
i used sand in a tank one time my fish had kicked up some near the intake of the filter over time it made my filter very noise ive never used it since

that has never happened to me!
and i never use gravel only sand
but then again, the strainer to my filters is about half way down the tank in all
of my tanks
 
ive cleaned it many times im not new nothing changed i bought a new impeller and the noise got louder so i put the old 1 back in for less noise and movied it 2 a tank as far from the living room and bedroom so we wouldnt here it
 
I messed up one of me Aquaclear 500's on my 130 when I was setting up my Frontosa tank. I had to run it outside by my hose and sharp stream it into the impeller to get the racket to stop. It was loud for 2 days now it's fine.

What color sand are you using ASH?
