i washed the sand, put it in the aquarium, now its all foggy. will my emperor 400 clean the water? its a 55 gallon without fish (cycling)

Give it time.. it'll settle down.. or do small water changes every day..

It happens to me everytime i do a water change..but it settles down after a couple of hours..

How well did you wash your sand? You sould wash it until the water runs clear, usually takes forever.

Did you just toss the sand in? Or did you lay it out on the bottom calmly? You may have unsettled the sand and the small particles that didnt wash out.

Depending on what mechanical filtration you have in your emperor, it should. What do you have in it?

Other than that, I think it eventually settles? Eventually being key word :(

i got pot scrubbies + normal filters, hopefully it settles

Good. What I do and it seems to give my tanks that extra clear water, is go down to the local fabric store and buy poleyester fiber-fil. and stuff this into my filters, it clears the water right up, is cheap. and you just toss it out when its dirty/your tank is clean, very easy, definitly reccomend it

quilt batting?

A tank wont grow bacteria unless theres fish ect ect in the tank You can add goldfish to the tank right now, only add 2-4 but slowly raise that untill maybe 10-15 then just replace them with the fish u want in a couple months really it works and hardly any losses when the population is kept low. :)

Yeah quilt batting.

Also, I suggest what vintageguy suggested, buy some goldfish/feeder fish, and the time that your tank is cycled, these fish are also Quartentined. Then you can buy a nice monster to eat them!
