Sanddddd

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Wait....this is abrasive blasting media.....
defiantly this would need to be sifted through screen material and thoroughly washed....
Black Diamond from Tractor Supply has also been used by many here....
I would excersise sound judgment and take as many prepartory steps as possible....

Any good threads or anything on washing/prepping sand?

The best way that has worked for me is....get a large piece of egg crate(light diffuser) HomeDepot..$7-11, an old window screen...I have actually used one from my windows...didn't tell the wife...the just poured out enough to work with, placing the screen on top of the egg crate for support...then just run a stream of water through it ....moving it around some...once rinsed, scoop it up and I to a bucket....a little tedious but very affective.
Another way is to fill a bucket about 1/3, immerse a running hose into the sand and careful to not blow the sand out of the bucket, run the water til it runs clear.
I don't like this method because all the finer sand is still mixed in. I like the way a screen makes all the sand uniform in size.

I use black diamond from tractor supply and love it. Even grain size and no silica, cheap, and it looks great. Only downside is it's filthy right out of the bag.

to clean mine I just put a hose in a 5 gallon pail then add enough water pressure into the sand that allows it to tumble aound. over flow the bucket outside and stir the sand from time to time. this method never made my water cloudy and removes all dirt, leaves, twigs that may be in it
