Sanding an acrylic tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yea it's a 125g.

It was given to me for free so I don't mind if it doesn't look "brand new", I'd just like to get the bulk of the scratches removed. Needs to at least look presentable :)

ther are lots of kits out there for this i order mine from the eastwood company they say its for head light lens and head light lens are plastic it works great on my tank took all of the small scratchs out you might want to try 2000 grit wet dry on the bottom then progressivily go to finer wet dry sand paper and buff with a variable speed buffer with a fine polish normally i wouldnt suggest any type of sand paper for an acrylic tank but after seeing your pics novus aint gonna cut it alone

I just got through doing a similar job with my 240. 800 grit will pretty much get rid of any scratch, given you don't mind using a little more elbow grease then work your way up to 2000 grit. You're going to want to do the entire surface so everything is even; I made spot repairs and even after using Novus on them, you can kinda tell a repair was done there. I'm hoping they'll disappear when the tank is filled, but I may go over them with Novus 2 a few more times.
