I live in northern va lost power for a short time but I was very lucky still got power. The last time I lost power I did buy an 800w inverter 2 100 foot extension cords powers up all my main filters (sumps), air pumps, and my fridge. The most important things my fish and food LOL.

whew!! powers back on and everybody made....good luck to everyone else still without power.

Going on 42 hours without power and without filtration / aeration. Did the best i could when I was home w/ the bucket and picked up 2 battery pumps but wont be home until approaching 48 hours without any power.

Best wishes to all those dealing w/ Sandy!

Food for you or the fish? Lol

Bought a ton of aerators for a previous storm but didn't need them... Hopefully the investments worth it!

I remember before I built my last house, we had a snow power outage for 4 days. I had battery aerators off bait buckets running my tanks. LOL I can not stress how much the backup generator I installed in my home has given me piece of mind. Would not help with the roof issues, but I can go days with out electricity. I got a used unit from a hospital and keep 500 gallons of diesel in storage. A relatively small generator will run critical systems, although some members tanks will draw more power than the average person’s critical systems.
